7/18/05 Groundbreaking Ceremony planned for the Cold Climate Building & Infrastructure Research & Testing Facility (RTF)
Governor Murkowski signed the Alaska State Capital Budget which includes $900,000 for the construction of the RTF. Senator Gary Wilken and the interior delegation were instrumental in this effort.
This led the USDA Rural Development, which has obligated $2,000,000 for the RTF, to issue a notice to proceed on the foundation while reviewing and moving toward approval of all construction documents.
Excavation will begin July 19, 2005 with formwork immediately following. A construction site office has been set up and mobilization for the construction effort is in progress. The Groundbreaking Ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 PM on July 21st. see RTF
