Builders Resource Library

The Collection

Collecting and sharing information about sustainable building in cold climates is central to CCHRC’s mission. The Builders Resource Library, just off the lobby of the CCHRC Research and Testing Facility, offers members, and the general public, a growing collection of print materials addressing cold climate housing. It contains information on everything from solar hot water systems and green design to the latest Alaska Housing Finance Corporation building requirements.

Visitors can read current CCHRC research, catch up on the newest volumes of magazines and journals from the building community (“Fine Homebuilding,” “Journal of Light Construction” and 20 more), or research a particular building conundrum. An affiliate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Rasmuson Library, users of the Builders’ Resource Library have access to the Rasmuson library catalog and some Rasmuson research databases.

Additionally, CCHRC has partnered with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to provide books for purchase. If you access NAHB’s BuildersBooks.com through our website, 5% of the purchase will help support our Builder’s Resource library.

The library is open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Materials in the library are not currently available for check out. Copies can be made of library resources for a small fee.
